Maytee: Tell us about your love for pop art. Was it always something you wanted to do?
Marco: Absolutely not. My life really got in this "field" for casualty. I do think the casualty is a main point of my life. I used to hate the fashion world in 2001 then, don't know what happened I began to write about fashion, then I started to think to create something (I patented the T-SKIRT - a t-shirt that you have to wear upside down- in 2007, and I make also t-shirts now). The Graphic Pop Art probably grew up in me because I can't draw anything by hand, so that's why I explored the graphic design, especially doing fashion bloggers' pop portraits and I must tell you I do love it! I already had big scores reviews and they keep coming, since 2010, so I must say I'm so happy, especially because I'm heading to New York soon!
Maytee: Who or what inspired you to develop the unique style you are known for?
Marco: I just take inspiration from what my eyes and brain record each day, but my love for the Rubik's Cube started at the same time of my graphic pop art so I suppose there must be something of it. :)
Maytee: What have been some of your memorable moments as an artist?
Marco: The big moment was being the April 2010 Spotlight Artist of BoF (BusinessOfFashion.com). Thanks to this super big review I got credibility all over the world, and I have also to thank the first fashion blogger friend that I met on the internet, Terence Sambo from One Nigerian Boy, because they saw a portrait that I made of him, and they loved it and that 's why they contacted me.
Another nice moment were the exhibitions: I did some here in Milan and in Cremona as well, but a lovely one is coming up soon, in Montreal, Canada: it will start on the September 28th and will end on the 31st. December.
Maytee: What advice would you give to those who would like to follow in your footsteps?
Marco: The art and fashion fields are becoming really sick. Also if you are so talented it is not enough anymore. The most important things are becoming the connections, maybe also many years ago, but nowadays without connections is almost impossible to be known all over. In fact, I think I'm doing a sort of miracle because I never asked anything to anyone. I just do believe in myself and also if thousands of people tell me that I'm doing something wrong, I do it, and I'm always right at the end. So, people are just people, let them talk, wake up and conquer the world because everyone can do it! Of course you also must have support, I would have never made it without my family's support.
Maytee: Where can your work be found?
Marco: Actually there are some portraits in exhibitions in Milan at the Combines XL temporary shop.
