Maytee: When did you first begin styling and what led you to this career choice?
Waina: I have been styling for almost a year now, and I love it. Well you gonna find this funny, but after high school I went to college for photography and my parents didn't think it was a career, so they ended up putting me in nursing school. After couple of semesters I realized it wasn't what I wanted to the rest of my life so I decided to quite nursing and go to fashion school.
As a little girl I was always fascinated by art, and fashion to me is art, its a way of expressing yourself, so what better way to do it through styling.
Maytee: Who inspires you in terms of fashion designers and stylists?
Waina: Fashion Designer I would say the Late Alexandr McQueen, He was one of the people who was not afraid to take risque, and his work was all about expressing himself through fashion, same with fashion stylist Holly Suan Gray who has client like Vogue, Prestige France, west and east magazine just to name a few. To these people fashion was a style of language. I really look up to these two.
Maytee: Who are some of the people you have worked with?
Waina: I was fortunate enough to work with some amazing people, Photographer's like Marc Richard, Alberto Gonzalez, Kevin Sullivan. Victoria Secret models like Candice Swanapoel, Nina Agdal. Another great stylist and close friend of mine Obe Santos we work together a lot. Great designers like Viviane Valerius and Felipe Tonette who are also very close friends. As well as amazing editors that will be publishing some of my work soon in their magazines.
Maytee: For inspiring fashion stylists, what is the best advice you could give someone to break into the industry?
Waina: Well I would say not to ever give up on your dreams, if that's what you wanna do go for it. It was not easy when I first started and I'm sure its not gonna be easy for you, but don't ever let anyone tell you you can't do it, a lot of people didn't believe in me, but I knew what I wanted and I went for it. So I suggest they do the same.
Maytee: Where can people see more of you and your work?
Waina: My website is actually under construction, but I will be launching it soon http://www.wainachancy.com/ but for now they can check it out here http://brokendollmodels.com/wayi
