Eduardo: The show gave me a lot of exposure to clients that did not know my work. When the first episode aired I had people calling from all over the US for custom dresses. I just did a dress for a client for a gala at the Kentucky Derby.
Maytee: What have you been up to since the competition wrapped?
Eduardo: I have been doing a lot of custom work and I just returned from NY buying fabric for my next collection that will be ready by the end of September and then be on the runway in October in Houston. I am also doing 4 cocktail dresses for the Miss USA Pageant contestants for the interview portion of the contest as well as Miss Iowa's evening gown that will be worn on stage.
Maytee: What are some of your upcoming projects for 2011?
Eduardo: We are doing Houston Fashion Week this year and the best news is that the showroom is now open in NYC. You can check out the showroom at Ashleylaurenkerr.com. Our showroom hosted a party at the Aria Hotel Saturday evening during the Miss USA pageant. We are currently getting ready for the Miss Universe Pageant and we will be making more announcements about that very soon. We will be showing the new mass production line for the first time at the Atlanta Mart in August.
Maytee: What advice do you have for anyone who wants to follow in your footsteps?
Eduardo: The best advice I can give anyone is follow your dreams and get ready for some hard work.. I also let everyone know that it is not an easy business; it takes a lot of skill, hard work, long hours and a little bit of luck. Success does not come over night. I also recommend doing everything you can to gain exposure. We did every show and event we could when we first started out.
