Interview: 5 Questions with Top Model De'Coyeia Moore

Monday, September 19

Maytee: How did you get your start in modeling?

De'Coyeia: My modeling career started when I entered a Sean John model search contest and placed 9th out of 9000 contestants. After that P. Diddy's assistant/celebrity stylist Atiba Newsome mentored me into what it takes to be a professional model.

Maytee: Aside from modeling is there something else you do?

De'Coyeia: Besides modeling I am a full time student at Tuskegee University, a future Officer in the Army, and a part time Taekwondo instructor, so I guess it’s safe to say I’m somewhat of a modern renaissance man.
Maytee: What are some of your career highlights?

De'Coyeia: Some of my career highlights are being featured in CINTHE magazine, DIMENSIONS magazine, Bleu magazine, CAPTIVATE magazine, The Fasionairy male beauty of the week and working with and befriending some of the models I once looked up to, by the names of Wendell Lissimore, Sessilee Lopez, and Zeric to name a few.

Maytee: What is any advice you would like to give to those looking to follow in your footsteps?

De'Coyeia: The advice I would like to give to people trying to follow in my path is to stay persistent and learn as much as possible. There is a lot more to modeling than just taking a pretty picture. You have to set yourself apart and know yourself down to every angle. Play with different looks and definitely stay in shape, if you meet the standards of being a model and you feel can get out there and make it happen then do it.

Maytee: What can we expect to see from you next?

De'Coyeia: The next few things I have lined up are a Burberry spread in Bleu magazine, and in a month I will be heading to Atlanta and NY to find finally sign with an agency. No more freelance for me.
